THE REBIRTH

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN MADE WITH BIO TEXTILES

Inspired by Rei Kawakubo's concept of anti-fashion, I decided to create an innovative material by fusing scraps of clothing, threads, and bioplastic to create a completely new fabric. My experimentation was not only about creating a new textile but also about sustainability, as all the materials used were recycled: old clothes, unused leftover threads, and yarn fibers.

The process of creating the bioplastic involved mixing gelatin, glycerin, water, fabric scraps, and dye to give it a vibrant appearance. This experimentation phase lasted about a month and a half, during which I experimented to create the most feasible biotextile.

Subsequently, assembling the material required about 3 to 4 additional weeks. It was a challenging project that, although it did not turn out as I had hoped, I felt was very worthwhile in the end.
